Birthday Presents For the Younger Set

One of the joys of parenting includes going to a birthday party pretty much every weekend of the year.  Puppet shows, bouncy houses, and art projects are usually the highlights of these gatherings.  The problem lies in the gift giving – how does one continue to give something that is both educational and fun?

Books of course, are a staple in my gift giving, but I’ve also included play-doh with cookie cutters, tool sets, cooking packages, and creative art supplies.  It might seem silly that I’ve decided to write a blog about gift giving, but when I spend a better part of each week shopping and wrapping presents – well, you can see how it’s become a tad bit consuming.

Luckily, this weekend includes only one party and I’ve already started brainstorming.  I’m leaning towards Harold and his purple crayon with a box of Crayola’s in 16 bright, shiny colors and maybe a Melissa&Doug coloring book.  And if you’re yawning while reading this or perhaps rolling your eyes…

Welcome to my life.
